Account Settings
Overview
Your account settings control how DreamPlan looks, works, and communicates with you. From here you can update your profile information, manage your password, configure which features are visible, set notification preferences, and handle your subscription billing.
Account settings are accessible from any page by clicking Settings in the main navigation sidebar, or by visiting /settings in your portal.
The account settings page with profile, password, features, and notification preferences.
Profile Settings
Your profile contains the basic information associated with your DreamPlan account.
Editing Your Profile
- Go to Settings from the main navigation.
- You will land on the Profile tab.
- Update any of the following fields:
- Name — your display name shown to other users and collaborators.
- Email — the email address used for login and notifications.
- Avatar — click your avatar image to upload a new photo.
- Click Save Changes.
Tip: Use a clear, professional photo for your avatar — vendors and collaborators will see it in messages and event pages.
Changing Your Email
If you change your email address, you may need to verify the new email before it takes effect. Check your inbox for a verification link.
Changing Your Password
- Go to Settings.
- Find the Change Password section.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter your new password and confirm it.
- Click Update Password.
Your new password takes effect immediately. You will remain logged in on your current device.
Tip: Use a strong, unique password that is at least 8 characters long with a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
Signing Out
To sign out of DreamPlan:
- Click your avatar or name in the sidebar.
- Click Sign Out.
- You will be returned to the login page.
Signing out ends your session on the current device only. If you are logged in on other devices, those sessions remain active.
If you are using a shared or public computer, always sign out when you are finished. DreamPlan sessions persist until you explicitly sign out, so leaving a session open could allow others to access your event data.
Feature Preferences
DreamPlan lets you customise the interface by choosing how many features are visible. This is especially useful for planners who want a simpler experience.
Focused vs Advanced Mode
| Mode | What You See |
|---|---|
| Focused | A streamlined interface with only essential features — ideal for planners who want simplicity |
| Advanced | The full DreamPlan experience with all features enabled |
Changing Your Mode
- Go to Settings > Features (or visit
/settings/features). - Select Focused or Advanced at the top of the page.
- The interface updates immediately.
Individual Feature Toggles
Regardless of which mode you choose, you can toggle individual features on or off. There are 14 features you can control:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Budget Tracker | Track expenses, set category budgets, record payments |
| Team Collaboration | Invite collaborators to help plan your event |
| Communications Hub | Message vendors directly from your event |
| Day-of Schedule | Build a minute-by-minute timeline for the event day |
| Planner Analytics | View spending breakdowns, RSVP trends, and progress charts |
| Document Uploads | Upload and organise contracts, receipts, and files |
| QR Check-in | Generate QR codes for guests and scan them at the door |
| Seating Chart | Visual drag-and-drop seating arrangement tool |
| Checklist | Task management with due dates and assignments |
| Guest List | Manage invitations, RSVPs, dietary needs, and groups |
| Vendor Management | Browse, shortlist, compare, and track vendors |
| RSVP Collection | Public RSVP page for guests to respond online |
| Event Cloning | Duplicate a past event as a template (Pro tier) |
| CSV Export | Export guest lists, budgets, and seating data (Pro tier) |
When a feature is toggled off, its navigation item and related pages are hidden from the interface. No data is deleted — turning a feature back on restores everything.
Tip: Start with Focused mode and turn on features as you need them. This keeps your sidebar clean and reduces overwhelm during the early planning stages.
Notification Preferences
Control which events trigger email notifications and how often you receive them.
Accessing Notification Settings
- Go to Settings > Notifications (or visit
/settings/notifications). - Toggle each notification type on or off.

- Upgrade to Pro for access to advanced features.
- Open the Stripe Billing Portal to update payment methods, download invoices, or cancel.
- See your next billing date and amount.
For full details on plans and pricing, see the Subscriptions & Pricing page.
Account Security
Best Practices
- Use a strong, unique password for your DreamPlan account.
- Do not share your login credentials with others. Use the collaborator feature to give team members their own access.
- If you suspect unauthorised access, change your password immediately and contact support.
- Sign out of DreamPlan when using shared or public computers.
How Authentication Works
DreamPlan uses Supabase Auth for secure authentication. Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text. Sessions are managed with secure cookies and expire after a period of inactivity. All connections use HTTPS encryption.
Tips
Tip: Review your notification settings after onboarding. The defaults are designed for most users, but you may want to fine-tune them based on your workflow.
Tip: Feature preferences are per-account, not per-event. If you need the full feature set for one event but not another, use Advanced mode and simply ignore the features you do not need for specific events.
Tip: If you manage events professionally, Advanced mode with all features enabled gives you the most powerful planning experience.
Tip: Your avatar and display name are visible to vendors, collaborators, and guests on RSVP pages. Keep them professional and up to date.
FAQ
Can I change my email address? Yes. Go to Settings and update your email in the profile section. You may need to verify the new address before the change takes effect.
What happens if I forget my password? On the login page, click Forgot Password. You will receive a password reset link via email. Follow the link to set a new password.
Will I lose data if I switch from Advanced to Focused mode? No. Switching modes only hides features from the interface. All your data is preserved and will reappear when you switch back or toggle the feature on.
Can I have different notification settings for different events? Notification preferences apply to your entire account. You cannot set per-event notification preferences at this time.
How do I delete my account? Account deletion is not currently self-service. Contact DreamPlan support to request account deletion.
Can collaborators change my account settings? No. Collaborators have access to the event they were invited to, but they cannot view or modify your account settings, billing, or notification preferences.
What is the difference between Focused and Advanced mode? Focused mode shows a simplified interface with fewer navigation items and features. Advanced mode shows everything. Both modes have access to the same underlying data — the difference is purely what is visible in the interface.
How many features can I toggle individually? There are 14 individually toggleable features. You can enable or disable any combination, regardless of whether you are in Focused or Advanced mode.
Does changing notification settings affect past notifications? No. Changes to notification settings only affect future notifications. Past emails already sent are not affected.
